Glass Facade

Glass wrapping up the building exterior/envelope is called a glass façade. New age building designs and constructions use an expansive amount of glass facades. This is mostly due to the simplicity of the materials and the invention of new age construction ways

The use of glass in the exterior facades provided more light and a good ambiance to the occupant of the building which gave rise to the increasing use of glass. One of the most preferred ways to instantly enhance the style quotient of a tall building is a glass façade at Om Engineers.

Different types of glass facades

Curtain Facades

1. Curtain Wall Facades

The curtain wall façade does not carry any structural load from the building other than its dead load weight. The wall transfers lateral wind loads that are incident upon it to the main building structure through connections at floors or columns of the building.

Connections exist between the curtain wall and the building’s columns and floors so that the weight of the wind can be transferred from the facade. Om Engineers Are a popular solution for façades and curtain walls for both functional and aesthetic reasons. They are much stronger than glass and protect buildings from both vandalism and heavy impact. These panels also insulate buildings while letting in daylight, thus contributing to savings on air conditioning, heating, and lighting costs

2. Storefront Wall Curtain Facades

Om Engineers provide you with quality and variety of structures and designs of store wall curtain facades, these are high quality designed primarily for ground floors. It spans between the ground and the roof of the building above it and offers optimal thermal and sound insulation when constructed using specialized glasses.

3. Framing Facades

These are Built from long vertical extrusions or support mullions that are attached to the building’s structure.

Om Engineers provide the architectural design aesthetic of the building envelope. A wide variety of façade treatments and shapes can be created using CFS, including large ribbon windows, curved and inclined walls, solar shading, and balconies.

Framed cold-formed steel makes a perfect choice for façade systems as it’s lightweight and versatile and the integrated engineering software allows for façade systems to be designed to local building codes.

4. Frameless Facades

The astonishing beauty of glass facades lies in their simplicity. Do not be deceived by their simple appearance glass facades are the product of broad engineering and thanks to it, they open up cast possibilities for visionary engineers, allowing them to produce complete glass envelopes without interruption.

Manufactured entirely from structural strong glass, our structures feature simple fineness but without making a compromise with safety or durability. Each glass panel is constructed using slice- edge thermally productive glass types that exceed the performance criteria outlined in the final structure control regulations. This ensures the surroundings behind your frameless glass façade maintains a stable temperature, anyhow of the rainfall conditions on the outside.

Advantages of Glass Facades

  • The materials used in glass facades are extremely strong and durable. They’re designed to resist major weather elements, including high winds, rain etc.
  • A unique transparent material that allows light to pass through it so that the objects behind the glass are visible clearly.
  • Has a smooth glossy surface, so it is dustproof and can be cleaned efficiently. Unlike other materials, it is easy to maintain.
  • Available in a wide range of colours, and when we combine the glass sheet in laminated or insulated units, it changes in colour and appearance.
  • Glass is UV stable since it is not affected by ultraviolet radiation and hence cracks, discoloration or disintegration will not occur.
  • Glass is an excellent insulator and does not readily conduct electricity,
  • Glass is corrosion resistant, and only under certain conditions, the glass is chemically attacked.
  • It can withstand the effects of the wind, rain, or the sun and can retain its appearance and integrity in most of the given conditions.
  • It can transmit 75%-80% of the natural light in both the directions, something which no other substitute does.
  • It can be made translucent or molded in different shapes, it can offer a lot of flexibility to the architect in terms of usage in the building.
  • Glass does not rust so it is better than iron and does not succumb to its surrounding environmental conditions.
  • Reduces weight on the foundation of the building and makes the building lighter as compared to walls.
  • In addition to all of the functional benefits of a glass facade, one of the biggest advantages is how it looks.
