Factors
1. As security is considered the main factor for an entrance gate, stay away from horizontal slits because one can climb them easily.
2. Having a fully opaque or blocked gate like panels of wood or metal will ensure full privacy from passers-by, especially if you have a view inside the house.
3. If the plot is a corner plot with roads on two edges, then it is advisable to take the entrance gate on the smaller road to avoid the vehicular movement on the wider road. This will also help in maintaining privacy.
4. An entrance gate should preferably be placed at a side and not in the middle of the plot line.
5. If the plot frontage is small and the door cannot open fully, you can install a sliding door to have maximum opening. This ensures maximum space for vehicular movement. On the other hand, if you have a big enough plot frontage, a separate smaller gate can be installed for pedestrian movement.
6. The entrance gate should be sturdy and strong to withstand frequent use. If you have metal gates it should be painted once in a while to avoid rusting and peeling paints.
